Week of October 19- 23,  2015


6th Grade Science
We will study Genetics and Heredity, learn about diabetes, study George Mendel, look at video on Mendel and Genetics. Assessment on Thursday.

Homework:
Monday-  creative writing, write about how a person can prevent diabetes
Tuesday-  read the article on the Science of Mutants
Wednesday-  research who Mendel was and what is he known for
Thursday-  finish Mendel's Grew Jelly Beans Squares from Science Weekly magazine

7th Grade Social Studies
We will study the Cell and chemical reaction, understand how Cells ingest nutrition, explore jobs in Science, formation and energy assessment on Friday

Homework:
Monday-  answer check your reading page 43-45
Tuesday-  answer questions on page 45 1-2
Wednesday-  check your reading from reading up to page 51
Thursday investigate fermentation and energy

6th Grade Social Studies
WE will study Early Empires, the Babylon Empire, who Hammurabi was, the rule of the Assyrians and Chaldeans, understand the hanging gardens of Babylon, assessment on Friday chapter 4

Homework:
Monday-  finish map skills on page 108/a22
Tuesday-  answer lesson review questions on page 116 1-3
Wednesday- review and essential questions from reading
Thursday-  study for assessment chapter 4

7th Grade Social Studies
We will study the beginning of Islam, understand the crossroads of 3 continents, explore the five pillars of Islam, assessment on Islam on Thursday

Homework:
Monday-  finish map skills on the Middle East page 87
Tuesday-  answer review and essential questions from reading
Wednesday-  lesson review questions page 96 1-4
Thursday- read lesson 3 page 99-103

8th Grade Social Studies
We will study the English Colonies, finish questions from page 89 1-4, be able to distinguish  between the New England, Middle and Southern Colonies, assessment on Friday

Homework:
Monday- finish questions on page 97 1-4
Tuesday- answer questions page 103 1-4
Wednesday- finish questions on page 129 1-4
Thursday-  study for assessment
